To both the Adam's thank you for your hard work, flexibility and attention to detail whilst building our Nagios distributed monitoring system. We are now able to monitor our entire IT estate with one application that surpasses the abilities of the previous eight software applications that were used. We would have no hesitation in recommending Transitiv for consultancy, development and support of Nagios Network Monitoring.
Selection Services were monitoring around 2,000 devices using a variety of monitoring platforms. The intention of this project was to replace those with Nagios within a deadline of 6 weeks. A test Nagios deployment was in place but was struggling with only 500 devices, so this project included the use of a number of distributed Nagios systems which communicate using Merlin.
We have used Transitiv for a variety of work on Open Source systems, including the implementation of an Apache based reverse proxy to provide secure external access to third parties. Their work has been excellent, delivered on time and cost effective. As an ICT consultancy for public and private sector with customer sites spread across the UK, it's important for us to be alerted immediately when a problem occurs at a customer location. We contacted Transitiv to develop a monitoring system with remote monitoring stations on customer sites and a central management console so that we can see the status of all internal and customer ICT infrastructure from a single interface.
This system was developed by Transitiv and is now in active use by employees and customers alike. As a result we are alerted to the root cause without spending time diagnosing the issue, meaning we are able to respond immediately and resolve issues well within our agreed SLA's. The resource graphing allows us to see potential issues developing before they become problems, see which systems are under strain, plan for upgrades and generally become pro-active about support issues, fixing them before serious problems occur. As a consequence our customers have noticed that the number of support issues has reduced. We become aware of issues and fix them before our clients do and the reporting system allows us to present hard data to our customers with regards to system availability on request or as a scheduled report.
